VISION:

Enhancing the educational process via its sections in language, literature, and linguistics, the department of English language aims to support the community with graduates who are well-equipped with highly-improved skills and experiences for heading into the diverse fields of professionalism needed for making any possible contribution, specifically, in the area of teaching English as a foreign language by the use of modern trends and technology.

MISSION:

Promoting the university’s thrive to a better position locally and internationally, the department’s basic mission is to work with a modern academic strategy, depending on the best techniques in teaching English around the world, which would guarantee a better result and the success of the new method in creative teaching of the basic sections of language, literature, and linguistics. The department attempts to provide the students with a chance to develop their language skills, mainly listening, reading, writing, and speaking that would bring about proper teaching and communicating capabilities, as well as a place in today’s world where English is used massively for communication and particularly within social media platforms which they might use for academic motivation as well.

The department also aims to improve students’ knowledge of the English language and culture, to guarantee good-quality English speakers. The aims of the department of English and the university, in general, go hand-in-hand. However, these aims show our discipline and our commitment to literature, language, and the arts.

In this respect, there are certain important purposes that we strictly look forward to as enabling the students to read well, speak well, teach well, and think well so that they gain good English proficiency. Particularly, we intend to graduate students with:

1. The ability to read, teach and examine literature and culture throughout various eras.

2. The efficiency to write and speak English fluently.

3. Research skills that make it possible for them to extend, from different aspects, their readings of literature and the comprehension of language.

4. Suitable knowledge of relevant domains within the discipline, involving literature, literary history, criticism, and theory; the language structures of modern English and the theory of the English language.

5. Advanced appreciation and delight in literature and language.
